One of the monuments dedicated to the events of 1941-1945 is the Hill of Heroes complex. This is a small hill in the heart of the city. Before the war, there was a temple here, and the location itself was called Pioneer Hill. But during the hostilities, the temple was destroyed, and artillery was placed in its place. After the Victory, 15 years later, Pioneer Hill acquired its current name and became the site of the memorial complex. It includes the Eternal Flame, the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and commemorative plaques.

Another outstanding military-themed monument to Tupas is called the City of Military Glory.

The city was awarded this title after the victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War for the courage and heroism shown by local residents and soldiers during the battles against the Nazis. After all, it was here that some of the heaviest battles took place, due to the presence in the city of a seaport and an oil refining center, which are important for the invaders. Tuapse defense played a key role in the battle for the Caucasus.
The monument is located on Primorsky Boulevard and is an 11-meter granite stele, on top of which the coat of arms of Russia is installed. The column was erected at the direction of the President of the Russian Federation in 2008.
You can learn more unique facts about the participation of the city in the Second World War by visiting the Tuapse Defense Museum of History and Local Lore. It was opened on the eve of the Millennium and gathered under its roof collections dedicated to the Tuapse defensive operation.
In the halls of the museum you can see a hypsometric map of military operations with a visual demonstration of the various stages of a military operation, as well as a diorama that offers a view from the window of a house located nearby the battle center.
The museum also presents many samples of the Red Army weapons, letters from the front and many other unique artifacts.
