Omsk, whose webcams can be viewed online on this site, is a city of Western Siberia, stunning in its beauty and color, which is located on the banks of the Irtysh and Om rivers.
This huge city of a million people will amaze with an abundance of attractions, cultural, historical and architectural monuments.
Some of the most important objects of Omsk can be seen if you walk along a special marking laid through the city center. There are information boards next to the notable objects. The total length of the red line, laid along 25 historical sites, is 6 km.
You can start the walk from Chokan Valikhanov Street, which is called the Omsk Arbat. Its promenade pedestrian area starts from the intersection with Karl Marx Avenue and goes to the observation deck near the Irtysh embankment. Recently, the street has changed markedly. Trees, flower beds, recreations, art objects, gazebos, fountains and sculptures appeared here. The most important objects on this street are the Consulate of Kazakhstan, as well as the house-museum of Kondraty Belov. This is a famous Siberian artist, whose works are collected in the house where he once lived. Along with exhibitions, the Museum hosts interesting events. During the celebration of the New Year, the artist's house turns into the Residence of Father Frost.
It will be interesting to stroll along the Theater Square, where a coniferous alley of Twin Cities is planted. Nearby are the Musical Omsk Theater and the Theater of the Young Spectator. In the center of the square there is a monument to the patron saints of the family Peter and Fevronia of Murom.
From here you can also get to the St. Nicholas Cossack Cathedral, within the walls of which the banner of Ataman Ermak with the image of St. Dmitry of Thessalonica is kept.
The Museum of Local Lore will tell about the various stages in the history of Omsk. Artifacts that date from the Stone Age to the present day are stored here. It will be interesting to see an exposition dedicated to the Middle Ages, as well as a collection that tells about the Petrine era.
Of particular value is the collection of weapons of the steppe dwellers who inhabited these lands before the arrival of the Russians. It will be informative to look at the layout of the Omsk fortress, as well as archival documents, exhibits related to the history of the First World War and the Great Patriotic War.
Separately, it is worth mentioning the exhibition dedicated to the nature of the Omsk region. It is divided into several sections, in accordance with the habitats of urban, steppe, taiga and river representatives of flora and fauna. The skeleton of a mammoth and other ancient animals is unique.
If, for now, a trip to these places is not included in the plans, Omsk webcams will allow you to get to know the city better and, possibly, determine the direction for the next weekend.
