First, high-ranking officials lived here, then a hospital was located, and then they forgot about it altogether. The revival began only in 1994. Now it is a full-fledged complex, consisting of six places of worship and a religious school.
The main one is the Panteleimon Cathedral. It rises above the monastery complex and stands at the entrance to the New Athos Monastery. It was built between 1888 and 1900. This building, which was built in the neo-Byzantine style, leads to the "Path of Sinners". Belief says that if you go through it to the end, you can get rid of all sins. This building is popular because of the beautiful frescoes that completely adorn it inside. Despite the fact that they tried to paint over, they still showed through the plaster and were well preserved.
