University of Debrecen (Hun. Debreceni Egyetem) is the largest school in Debrecen and one of the leading universities in Hungary.
Base year is the year 1538, when opened Debrecen Calvinist College. The school is repeatedly transformed and reorganized. The first University institution on the basis of the Debrecen universities formed in 1912 (Royal University of Debrecen), he was subsequently separated.
In a modern state established in 2000 with the merger of three universities of Debrecen agricultural, medical and natural science University of Kossuth. As of 2010, the University receives about 32 thousand students, of which more than 2 thousand from abroad, the faculty has 1.7 million employees.
