Its hospitality, stunning Northern scenery, peace and an abundance of monuments, this state has earned immense popularity among travelers from around the world. Many of them prefer to begin to get acquainted with Norway, with its former capital – historic
Bergen. From most of the tourist routes of this amazing country, framed by fabulous glaciers. The state of Norway has excellent industrial potential, well-developed livestock sector and fisheries and the oil industry, shipping and trade. Bergen is one of the largest cities in the country, and is situated on the hilly banks of the North sea. It was founded in the second half of the XI century, and has long been the capital of the Kingdom. In the middle Ages, Bergen became part of the Hanseatic trading Union European and Baltic States. At the same time, a peak of economic development of the city and the country, was built the market, as well as a major Mercantile centre of international scale. Unfortunately, more than half of great historical and architectural monuments, was destroyed by fire and war in the twentieth century. However, even those attractions that has reached our days, is able to present a coherent picture about the history of the city, and permanently deposited in the memory, leaving a lot of pleasant experiences. Undoubted asset of the city is Bryggen is the first sight you see tourists arriving here on Board. It was built in the XIV century. Once it housed merchant and trading houses, and now the waterfront is included in the list of monuments protected by UNESCO, and is one of the most popular attractions. On the promenade are art galleries, antique museums, cafes and shops. The pride of Bergen is the castle of king Hokanson, built in the XIII century and the tower of Rosenkrantz that emerged here in the XVI century. Special chic has a government house, where in our days you can see the unique Museum exposition. By the way, in Bergen you can also find several museums, the most famous of which are the fisheries Museum of applied art in Norway, the house-Museum of Grieg, the art Museum, and the exposition in the open air "Old Bergen." An important religious object, and the oldest building of the town is the Protestant St Mary's Church, built in the Roman style defensive architecture in the XII century.
