This busy and busy city is the gateway to an impressive mountain country. The settlement is located at an altitude of 1023 m - this is the highest European capital.
Aside from shopping malls, duty-free shops, the famous spa complex (the largest in Europe), Andorra la Vella is still a charming town with a bit of an old-fashioned atmosphere.
You can find it in the valley panoramas and the tiny cobbled old quarter. At the same time, for most travelers, the capital still remains a transit point on the way to the snow-covered ski slopes and the grandeur of the Andorran Pyrenees.
Casa de la Val is one of the main attractions. Built in 1580 as the home of a wealthy family, this graceful stone mansion was Andorran's parliament building from 1702 to 2011. The architecture is mixed as it includes defensive elements, watchtower, battlements. The door is made of faceted stone with a pointed arch. On the right you can see the old coat of arms of Andorra, above which is placed a polychromatic stone shield from 1763, as well as the coat of arms of the Busquets family and the date of construction.
The building consists of two floors and an attic. The basement once contained stables where councilors from more distant parishes could keep their horses. In the early 1960s, when the house was being restored, this space was set aside for offices. Going up to the first floor, on the left is the office of the President of Parliament, formerly used as a conference room, as well as a library. In the main hall, the old dining room, you can admire frescoes from the end of the 16th century, representing scenes from the Passion of Christ. Next is the meeting room of the General Council, at the end of which is the chapel. There is also a wooden table and a “Seven Keys Cabinet”, which contains the most important documents of the Principality. It could only be opened in the presence of councilors from all seven parishes. From the Main Hall, the path also leads to the kitchen, which was used in the past when the meetings of the General Council lasted more than one day. In these cases, the advisers also slept in the building in rooms that were built in the attic.
Adjacent to the house is the dovecote tower, and in the surrounding gardens you can admire works of art from various periods and several sculptures, in particular, "La Dansa" by Josep Viladomat.

The church housed one of the most extensive and rich series of frescoes in the Principality. In addition to them, you can admire the Romanesque polychromatic wood carving of Our Lady of Healing and a baroque table from 1721 dedicated to the patron saint of the church. Outside, in front of the church, in a space previously occupied by a cemetery, there is a 13th-century wrought-iron cross.
Among the city's monuments, the most unusual is a sculptural group of seven human figures. It can be seen as a metaphor for the seven Andorran parishes. In general, this monumental composition is called "Seven Poets". As conceived by the authors, poets are a key part of society, because create something new and beautiful. The group stands on Lydia Armengol Square, opposite the administrative building of the commune and the new parliamentary premises.
