Sharya appeared as a station settlement at the railway line, which was laid through these lands at the beginning of the last century. The name of the city was given from the Sharinka River, which is a tributary of the Vetluga.

The first houses were built near the Station. Today they represent a clear reference to the architectural tradition of those days. A notable feature of the city is the presence of a large number of wooden two-story residential buildings. The natural resources of this land have an impact.
Not far from the station, you can walk along a real cobblestone pavement, which was laid even during the construction of the railway. Nearby stands a monument to the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution.
You should definitely visit the Sharya Park, where swans live on an old pond, including black ones.
