The webcam online broadcasts Aviary with giraffes in Szegedi Vadaspark. Szeged is one of the main tourist centers in Hungary, which previously had the glory of a wellness resort, and now attracts guests with its modernist architecture.
Szeged is located in the very south of Hungary, 170 km southeast of Budapest. The city is the administrative capital of the copper (province) of Chongrad. Szeged has the status of a border town - 10 km from it is the border with Serbia, 20 km - the border with Romania.
Szeged is located on both sides of the River Tisa, the largest tributary of the Danube. Tisa has a rather turbulent character and played a decisive role in the life of the city. In 1879, during the flooding 95% of the city's buildings were destroyed by the spilled water of the river. After these events, the city was rebuilt and generally acquired its current appearance.
The city has thermal springs, so in the 19th century Szeged became a famous balneological resort. Now two geothermal wells have been opened in the city: Anna and Dora.
Szeged is the third most populous city in Hungary. In total, a little more than 160,000 people live in Szeged. The vast majority of the city's residents are Hungarians by nationality (95%), the once large Serbian community of Szegeda has now shrunk to 0.5% of the total population.
