Yekaterinburg, whose webcams can be viewed online on this site, is a city that is gradually opening up to the traveler.
Many tourists do not even suspect what treasures the streets of this ancient city keep. But the capital of the Urals will find something to win the heart of even seasoned travelers.
Ekaterinburg appeared on the map of Russia gradually. First, by decree of Peter I, an ironworks was built here. Tatishchev and de Gennin, who are considered the founders of Yekaterinburg, participated in the construction of the enterprise. In honor of these figures, a monument was opened in the city, which was dedicated to the 275th anniversary of the founding of the city. It is noteworthy that the relationship between Tatishchev and de Gennin was strained in life. However, the sculptors of the monument put them together for years to come.
Among the most beautiful buildings in Yekaterinburg, the Sevastyanov House occupies a leading position.
Who originally owned the building, and in what year it was erected is not known for certain. However, historians know for sure that the mansion was acquired by assessor Nikolai Sevastyanov in the middle of the 19th century. At the initiative of the figure, the house was reconstructed in the Baroque and Neo-Gothic styles. It is in this form that the object has survived to this day.
During the reign of the Soviets, the first state labor exchange was located in the building. Later, the Regional Council of Trade Unions was moved here. Already in our century, the building was turned into a presidential residence for the duration of the SCO summit.
Among the oldest buildings in Yekaterinburg is a dam across the Iset River.
Locals affectionately call it "dam" and love to walk in the park, which was built on it in 1973. Until that time, the dam, which opened its drain in the first half of the 18th century, housed the workshops of an ironworks, as well as a powerful fortress. Today, you can see several more historical objects in the park. This is a water tower, a former mint, as well as the Museums of Nature and Architecture of the Urals.
Another location where residents and guests of Yekaterinburg like to gather is Ploshchad 1905 Goda. Initially, the Epiphany Cathedral was located here. But in the 30s of the last century it was demolished, making the square the main one in the city. Today, the Administration of Yekaterinburg is located here, as well as a monument to Lenin.
For those who cannot yet walk the streets of the city in reality, Yekaterinburg webcams will allow you to have a pleasant virtual walk.
