In addition to outstanding monuments of architecture, culture and art, Milan is home to a colossal number of modern attractions. One of them is Piazza Gae Aulenti, named after an outstanding Italian woman architect. The renovated square has become the main object of the renovated Porta Nuova business district in Milan.
The center of the composition of the new square is a swimming pool with three fountains, which is surrounded by a vast, paved area and modern buildings in a futuristic style. Among them, the tower of the Italian bank Unicredit is of particular splendor. The building was designed by the renowned architect Cesar Pelli. Other stunning buildings include the exhibition pavilion, shaped like a fantastic capsule (architect Michele de Lucchi), the Vertical Forest residential complex, designed by Stefano Boeri. There is also an amazingly beautiful park, which was worked on by a famous landscape studio, inspired by the beauty of the Italian botanical gardens.
While in Milan, you should definitely visit the Poldi Pezzoli House Museum. Inspired by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the artist created a cultural center from his inherited apartments, divided into several rooms, each of which was devoted to different periods of art history.
Today in the halls of the museum you can see the richest collection of works of the Renaissance, Middle Ages, Baroque. The building itself is also of cultural value.
Another Milanese house-museum belonged to the spouses Antonio Boschi and Marieda di Stefano and today it is one of the most unusual institutions in the city. A collection of 20th century Italian canvases is exhibited here, which was privately owned by representatives of the local bourgeoisie.
Today, a tour of this beautifully preserved mansion promises a fascinating journey into the world of unpredictable futurism, exquisite expressionism, fascinating metaphysical art.
The exhibition is complemented by interior items in the avant-garde style, creating an integral ensemble, in the spirit of a long bygone, but beautiful era.
