The Helsinki webcam broadcasts a view of the Redi shopping center in real time.
It is located in the eastern part of the capital and was built in 2018. There are hundreds of shops and dozens of restaurants here, and there is an outdoor park on the roof.
In Helsinki, whose webcams are available on the site, there are more than 400 outdoor sculptures, works of ecological art and historical monuments.
The oldest public sculptures date back to the end of the 19th century, and several individual monuments date back to an even earlier period.
Works in city parks, streets and squares are part of the collections of the Helsinki Art Museum. There are works located in public places and owned by enterprises, companies, public and private sites. There are also 100 sculptures and monuments in the cemeteries.
The Helsinki Art Museum, whose webcams allow you to enjoy the urban landscape, carefully collects a collection of works of art from residents.
Now it includes more than 9000 works. The history of the creation of this institution and, in general, the philosophy of collecting the works of residents began in 1885. Then the city council received a memorial statue of the poet Johan Ludwig Runeberg, carved by Walter Runeberg.
In 1954, the Fine Arts Committee of the city council was established, which consisted of shop stewards and visual artists. In 1967, Helsinki bought the buildings of Meilahti Manor, where it was decided to reserve the stone building for the needs of the Art Museum. The committee proposed to create an art center here.
In 1975, the construction of the Meilahti Museum began. When it ended, a collection donated by one of the residents was placed here. In subsequent years, new exhibition areas were opened. Now the complex includes three spaces: the Tennis Palace, the Melahti Museum and the Kluuv Gallery.
The most visible part of Helsinki's art collection, whose webcams dip into the atmosphere of Finnish life online, are public sculptures located on the streets, markets and parks of the city.
There are about 500 monuments in the open air. Hundreds of works of art are located in schools, kindergartens, medical centers and libraries.
The official website of the Art Museum has a map where you can find all the sculptures of the city. In addition to the basic information (name of the work, artist, year of publication, location), there are also backgrounds for the works and the location of the sculpture on the map.
