Árpád Street has its name in honor of the ruler of the Hungarians, the founder of the Arpad dynasty. Arpad led the Hungarians during the raid on the Great Moravian Empire (892), the war with the Bulgarians on the side of Byzantium (894–896), and the campaign in Lombardy at the request of the East Frankish king Arnulf. Under his leadership, the ancient Hungarian confederation of tribes moved to their current territory, the so-called "Age of the conquest of the motherland on the Danube", when in 896 the Hungarians, driven out by the Pechenegs, crossed the Carpathians and settled in the Middle Danube. In the years 900–901, the Hungarians, led by Arpad, finally defeated the Principality of Blatensky. After that, Arpad ordered the commander Yuhutum to conquer Transylvania, where the Hungarians were supported by the sekei - the descendants of the Huns.
