The cathedral is located behind the walls of an ancient fortress. It is a three-aisled building with domes rising above it. It was the first building to have such a shape. The uniqueness of this temple is that the base of the building is built only of stone, and the rest is masonry of brick and stone. At the same time, the closer to the dome, the wider the brick becomes.
The interior decoration is no less interesting than the facade of the temple. Despite the fact that most of the frescoes were plastered or knocked off the walls, the rest are striking in their beauty. This wall painting was created in the XII-XIV centuries. It depicted six-winged cherubs, apostles and a portrait of Christ Pantokrator. The portrait and images of the apostles surrounding him are depicted in the dome and have survived to this day.
The cathedral has survived to this day in a modified form, because. it has been reconstructed and renovated several times. The last transformations took place in 1975. The cult building, which had not been used for its intended purpose for a long time, was converted into a concert hall. A German organ was installed here, and the altar part was converted into a stage.
