Vozdvizhenskoye Nadstavna Church located in the cityTernopil, Ukraineis the oldest Church in the city. Today the temple is a historical monument that was built in the late sixteenth century. Temple is located on the Ternopil pond, its architecture done in the style of old Russian traditions. Some historical evidences of the temple said that the Church was founded during the reign of Prince Vasily Ostrovsky, however, another source claims that the Church was built during the reign of Prince Daniel Romanovich. In ancient times, the Church played the role of defensive functions, when the city is attacked, the Ministers of the Church bells were rung as a sign to attack the city. In the early twentieth century, the Church was in decline, the service conducted several monks. During the war the Church has also not escaped the destruction. In the fifties the Church was made and restoration work. For a long time the Church's building was used for other purposes. The Soviet authorities dismantled Church, and wanted to close up this place a cultural center and Museum. Later it was planned on the site of the Church to build a hotel, but it turned out that there is too little space. Today in the Church resumed service was also restored old frescoes of the iconostasis.
