After 100 years of service, King Frederick II issued an order to demolish the gate and build a brick structure. They have become more reliable, because. the casemates on the right and left housed the garrison, and the walls were so thick that they could protect the military.
The second time the Brandenburg Gate was rebuilt in 1843. This time they changed their appearance. Now they were not only used as a travel point and protection of the city, but also as an ornament. The building had decorative elements: pediments, symbols of Germany and Prussia, flowers in the form of sandstone crosses, as well as two high reliefs to famous military figures. Surprisingly, during the Second World War, the building miraculously survived, and in 1960 the Brandenburg Gate became an object of cultural heritage of the USSR.
