Kalkan provides unique opportunities for a calm and peaceful rest among the purest nature and ancient buildings. This place is not very popular among tourists, so lovers of a secluded, measured pastime can go here.
The main type of recreation in Kalkan is the beach. There is a pebble city beach on the territory of the city, but during the high season, a large number of visitors and local residents gather here. Those who want to enjoy paradise landscapes with white sand and turquoise water prefer to travel to two of the most beautiful beaches in the region - Patara and Kaputas. They can be reached by taxi or dolmus (minibus). Patara beach stretches in a wide strip along the sea for 20 km. The peculiarity of this place is that from May to October, the beach is closed to the public after sunset, when the giant Loggerhead turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. The same phenomenon is the reason for the lack of beach infrastructure and water activities. There is a small cafe near the beach. There are no other tourist sites here.
Those who want to see the revived landscape from the advertisement of "Bounty" come to the second beach of Kaputasch. The beach is surrounded by two rocks, through which you can get to the shore by a long stone staircase. The main feature of this place is crystal clear water and free admission, which makes up for the lack of beach infrastructure.
Most of the visitors to Kalkan are young couples who want to spend time in seclusion, as well as older people. Families with children are less likely to be seen here, because the local entertainment infrastructure is poorly adapted for young travelers.
There are practically no big clubs and noisy discos in Kalkan. Patlıcan (Aubergine) Restaurant and Sandal bar are among the most popular establishments of this kind. But there are others.
You should not count on fashionable shopping in Kalkan either. The bulk of the goods here are imitations of well-known brands. Although, lovers of original gizmos will find a lot of interesting products on local counters.
Yachting has been the main type of entertainment in Kalkan since the 19th century. At the marina, you can rent a boat, sailing or motor yacht with a captain and crew. Prices for this type of leisure will vary depending on the season, ship size and additional options.
