Ponomarevka is one of the regional centers of the Orenburg region. A small village stands on the left bank of the Dema River, 220 kilometers from Orenburg. You can watch Ponomarevka webcams online on our website.
Ponomarevka was founded in 1805. The first settlers on its territory were state-owned peasants who arrived at a new place. Vasily Ponomarev was appointed trustee over the natives of the Tambov province, after whom this settlement will be named in the future. However, its first name was Dema - because of the river flowing nearby.
The village developed as a regional agricultural and commercial center. In Ponomarevka, even several rural and merchant houses from pre-revolutionary times have been preserved. The village received the greatest development in the post-war years: the active construction of collective farms, the construction of housing stock and socio-cultural facilities began.
The main attraction of Ponomarevka is the Church of Our Lady of Kazan.
The temple was built in 1817 as a gratitude for the Divine Intercession in the Patriotic War and in honor of the victory of Russian soldiers over Napoleon. Church services have been held for almost 100 years. In 1912, it was abolished to the tomb, and in the 30s, by order of the local authorities, it was completely converted into storage facilities. And only at the end in the 80s the building was again transferred to the Orthodox community and reconstructed. The first service took place in 1989.
Among other architectural monuments of Ponomarevka, one can note the Eternal Flame, installed in memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War. The House of Children's Creativity (DDT) functions in the village. Today, various events and clubs are held here. It is noteworthy that earlier DDT was St. Michael's Church. There is also a regional House of Culture in Ponomarevka. Mass concerts and performances, all social and cultural events and a library are held within its walls. Not far from the recreation center is a local secondary school.
As for natural attractions, Ponomarevka has a hydrogen sulfide spring, which is visited not only by local residents, but also by guests from other cities and even regions. A small river Dema flows through the territory of the entire region.
