Naples is not like the rest of Italy, partly because it has been one of Europe's largest ports for centuries, partly because of the great independence of the Kingdom of Naples.
Naples is a city of ancient legends, spirits and beliefs. Even the emergence of the city has its own beautiful and very ancient legend. It is believed that when Odysseus safely escaped the treacherous sirens (by the way, the island of Siren according to one version is considered the island of Capri - the decoration of the Gulf of Naples), they, according to the prophecy, died by throwing themselves into the sea from high cliffs. The body of one of the sirens named Parthenope washed ashore in the Gulf of Naples, where it was found by locals. That is why the oldest, first name of Naples was Partenope. And still, despite all the past millennia, on the streets of Naples you can still meet this name.
Another legend says that the catchphrase "See Paris and Die" was actually first said about Naples, and during the Roman Empire. Another winged phrase, glorifying the unique beauty and charm of the city, sounds like "In Naples the visitor cries twice" - the first time from unearthly beauty, and the second time from the reluctance to leave. And believe me, there is something to see - a few hundred ancient churches, impressive nature, the narrow streets of the historic center and the view from the top of Vesuvius - it's all worth it to come to Naples and fall in love with it.
