Hella webcams online - cities of Iceland

Hella webcams can be viewed online to enjoy the views of the southern coast of Iceland. Hella is a small town in the southern part of Iceland where you can stay on the first or last night of your trip. This place will become the base for exploring the best sights of the south of the country. Now about 1000 people live here. The city is located about 94 kilometers from the capital. It is an important regional center for the area.
Hella's history goes back to the earliest days of Iceland. Located on the banks of the Itri-Ranga River, it was a source of fresh water and an abundance of salmon for the first settlers who arrived here. In this case, it is believed that these were not Scandinavians, but Irish monks.
There is an assumption that they lived in caves near the river. Due to Iceland's harsh climate and the fact that monks often did not stay in the country for long, many of the caves were used as temporary dwellings during this time.
However, Hella was not officially "founded" until 1927, when a store was built next to the bridge at Itri Rang. The man who brought this establishment to the city was named Horstein Bjornsson, and a monument was erected in the prosperous village to mark his fiftieth birthday.

As tourism in Iceland was popular, Hella benefited enormously.

Located on the ring road that circles Iceland, it is the perfect base to explore the famous sights of southern Iceland.
The most notable of these are those in the Golden Circle (Gulfoss Waterfall, Geyser Geothermal Area and Ingvellir National Park) and those along the South Coast (e.g. Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, Reynisfjara beach and Jekulsarlon glacial lagoon). However, other, less visited places are very close by and should not be overlooked. For example, the eco-village Sulheimar and the tomato and horse farm Fridheimar.

The Hella webcam, which can be viewed online on the site, allows you to view natural landscapes.
Due to a boom in tourism, the city's economy is now as dependent on services as it is on more traditional industries and agriculture. Thus, there are many amenities for travelers and a wide range of accommodation options, from cozy guest houses and bungalows to hotels. Therefore, those who travel along the ring road around Iceland often spend the night here. Similar nearby towns with similar services and amenities include Selfoss and Hvolsvellur.

The most popular place to go is definitely Landmannalaugar and Thorsmork.

These highland areas are only accessible by large 4x4 vehicles and only when the rivers are calm. Therefore, you should contact the hotel administrator or the tourist information center. It is important not to forget to check the road and weather situation.
A trip to the Golden Circle from Hella is another favorite way to spend a day here. You can start your journey by visiting the Urridafoss waterfall, then turn north, stop at Faxi Falls or Bruarhlod Canyon. The next stop on the journey will be the geothermal area with the famous Strokkur geyser erupting every 10 minutes.
If you have more time, take a short hike to the Brouarfoss waterfall and then visit the Kerid volcanic crater and soak in the hot tubs of the pool at Selfoss, or relax in the natural hotspots of the Secret Lagoon.
Be sure to visit the second highest Icelandic waterfall Haifoss. You can get to it along the same road as the Golden Ring, but after about 40 minutes drive turn left. The first stop will be at the waterfall, which is unique with two streams falling into one pool. At the same time, there is a typical Viking farm, the amazing “elven” Gyain Valley.

Hella webcams allow you to watch online some of the sights of the city.

In the vicinity there are two more waterfalls on the Ranga River. They are called Aegissídufoss and Arbaejarfoss. Heading east, you need to stop by one of the most famous waterfalls Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss and Gluggafoss. But moving to the west, you can see the massive stream of water Urridafoss. To the north are Gulfoss, Faxi, Hjalparfoss and Háifoss waterfalls.
Recently, a new attraction has been opened in the city - the Hella Caves, offering tours to the old caves under the city. Twelve artificial caves have been discovered on the land of Aegissida by Helloy on the south coast of Iceland. Four of them were open to the public. The historic site is the oldest archaeological site still standing in Iceland. Some believe that the caves date even earlier than the first Scandinavian Viking settlements. The wonders of the Hella caves include ancient crosses, wall carvings and carved seats.
