Norway. Once this amazing city was the capital of the state. Here gathered merchants from all over the world. Here was a perfectly developed animal and fish farming. By the way, Bergen and still remains a major fishing center of the country. Nowadays it operates Norway's largest port, there are many modern oil producing companies, food factories, large shopping centers. From the great kings of the past, in the Bergen left a stunning residence, where a unique collection of artifacts depicting the life of the city and the rulers of Norway at different times. In addition to the Palace chambers, in the city there are a great many others, not less beautiful, monuments of architecture, culture and history. Everyone who comes here, not even the first time, never cease to amaze cozy streets with wooden houses, beautiful historic parks, museums, theatres and galleries. The great advantage of this city is its scenic surroundings – the hills, covered with dense forest, the North sea and the unique fjords, with their unique rocky escarpment, a ridge which begins its run from here. One of the most important monuments in Bergen is its promenade, which was included in the World heritage List of UNESCO. It is located on those merchant houses that were built here out of wood centuries ago. And the old port buildings are now gift shops, art shops and atmospheric cafes. Here rises the impregnable Haakon's hall, which today hosts various festivals and celebrations. As already mentioned, the city is surrounded by hills on the top which can be reached by cable car or funicular. The most popular peak is mount Placen, where you can endlessly contemplate all the splendor of this city and its suburbs. Another scenic spot in the outskirts of Bergen – lake Lille, next to which is a Museum of Art, exhibiting paintings of masters Norway and Abroad.
