Flights to Egypt have been resumed. What does a traveler need to know?
Communication between Egypt and Russia resumed on September 2, 2020. This is reported on the russian government portal. But before you go on a trip, tourists should know about some nuances and limitations.
Experts in the tourism sector noted that the frequency of flights to the renewed tourist destinations from Russia Egypt will still be low. Only 2 flights a week.
Flights from Russia to the Egyptian direction at the moment are made only to Cairo, although previously worked another terminal located in Alexandria. Before the pandemic, Aeroflot planes also flew to Cairo. But from there to the coast of the Red Sea had to get about 8-9 hours.
At the end of 2019, a new atvtotrassa was opened, connecting Cairo with Sharm el-Sheikh. The path was reduced by 200 km, so it took much less time (less than 6 hours).
Of course, the cost of tickets from Moscow to Cairo is not the lowest. But such a flight will cost less than transit through a third country.
Russian tourists wishing to visit Egypt should take into account that, regardless of the direction of travel, each new arrival should have on hand the fresh test results on COVID-19. This rule was introduced from 01.09.2020. If the test result is positive or there are symptoms of the disease, the citizen is placed in a state clinic for quarantine, where he is treated and provided at his own expense. Experts note that the price of these measures is quite high.
Also in the resorts of Egypt significantly reduced the opening time of catering establishments and shops. When visiting public places, you need to wear a mask.
Egypt does not recommend visiting the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula, areas near the border with Israel. The same restrictions apply to excursions to the Catherine monastery and Sinai.
