Vietnam plans to open borders to foreign tourists

Vietnam plans to open borders to foreign tourists The Vietnamese authorities, together with travel companies, are considering the gradual restoration of international flights. Only the gradual and careful opening of borders can become a solid foundation for the resumption of an important industry for the country.

According to experts, even the opening of air services will not be able to save tourism in Vietnam this year. But this decision will be the first step to rebuilding the industry. This period is a great opportunity to prepare the available resources for the breakthrough next season. In the meantime, the authorities recommend the industry to adjust to the domestic market. Vietnam plans to launch a mass tourist not earlier than September. The beginning of autumn is the best time to visit the warm tropical beaches.

The Civil Aviation Authority is scheduled to resume flights in early June. The first foreign guests will be Japanese, Koreans and Taiwanese. Four flights per week are planned for each of these countries.

At the entrance all passengers will be quarantined in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health. It is predicted that the country will be visited weekly by about 6-7 thousand tourists from Asian destinations. With the submission of the Civil Aviation Authority, the proposal to waive mandatory quarantine of all those who have been vaccinated and has official confirmation is actively considered. Another important condition is the availability of health insurance to cover the cost of possible treatment from COVID-19.

Recall that Vietnam has decided to close the borders and cancel all international communications in March 2020. Since then, foreign specialists, medics and officials from other countries have visited only returning home. All of Vietnam's tourism figures fell by 99% compared to 2019 peaks. Financial losses amounted to about 14 billion dollars.

The Vietnamese government's severe quarantine restrictions justify the successful fight against the coronavirus. Thus, in March, fewer than 1,500 new cases of infection and 30 deaths were detected in the country.
