At the celebration of World Paella Day in Moscow, which was held at the initiative of the Italian Embassy, ​​guests were able to buy and taste traditional Spanish paella, which was brought from Valencia especially for the holiday.

According to the traditional recipe, paella must be filled with chicken and rabbit meat, beans, saffron, artichoke, olive oil and, of course, rice. Also, Moscow tasters were offered an unusual black paella with seafood.

The paella holiday in Moscow was opened by the staff of the tourism department of the Spanish Embassy in Moscow. The event took place in the afternoon at the Usachevsky market, as well as at the PaPella restaurant, whose chef Viktor Lobzin is considered the best in cooking this dish in the Russian capital.

The tasting was accompanied by live music from a special guest from Spain. Numerous contests with incentive prizes were also held.

Along with fresh paella, guests could taste Spanish drinks, as well as learn a lot of interesting information from a professional sommelier.

On the same day, in the homeland of Valencia paella, the final of the world competition for its preparation took place. 36 best chefs from 20 countries took part in the competition. The participants demonstrated incredible skill in preparing this delicious dish. The winner's cup this year was taken by Noelia Pascual from Elchi (Alicante). The first competition for making traditional Spanish paella took place in 2020.
