Palermo, whose webcams are on the site, is the main city in Italian Sicily.
In fact, it is its political, cultural and economic center. Having been here once, you will certainly want to return again, because you will not forget the atmosphere of the city for a long time.
This city is famous for its architecture. One of the interesting monuments is the Archbishop's Palace. It was commissioned by the Archbishop of Bologna Simone Beccadelli (1445-1465) in the middle of the 15th century, replacing the old building behind the cathedral.
This structure rests on a medieval tower. From here you can still admire the elegant Gothic tricolor window and the Gothic-Catalan portal of Neapolitan ancestry, where the coat of arms of the founder is carved. Between the 16th and 17th centuries the palace was significantly expanded by the Genoese cardinal-archbishop Giannettino Doria (1608-1640). As part of this change, the first large courtyard and balconies were built to replace the ancient loggia.
In the following centuries, the building underwent other important transformations, especially in the interiors. They have become one of the most luxurious in Palermo, whose webcams make it possible to enjoy the landscapes. In addition, the palace also gained political importance due to the fact that the archbishop was in his capacity as interim president of the kingdom.
The palace has preserved unique frescoes made between 1733 and 1734, as well as magnificent paintings by Gaspare Fumagalli and followers that covered the vaults and walls of the palace. In the 19th century the rooms were again changed according to the taste of the time, and therefore the baroque paintings were partially removed and replaced with new decorations that can be seen on the ceilings of the Green, Yellow and Blue rooms. In the XX century. by order of Cardinal-Archbishop Salvatore Pappalardo (1970-1996), representative rooms were not given to house the Diocesan Museum.
Every traveler should visit Palermo, even real-time webcams dip into the unique historical atmosphere.
When you walk along the streets live, the hand reaches out to capture every moment, a building, a square or a flower bed. Memories of this place will definitely remain in the soul forever.
