The city of Genichesk, whose webcams can be viewed on this site in real time, welcomes everyone who strives for the sea coast on the Arabat Spit in the Kherson region.

Genichesk adjoins the northern coast of the Sea of Azov and borders on the Genichesk Strait (Tonkiy), dividing the mainland and the beginning of the Arabat Spit, and also connecting the Utlyuk estuary with the Sivash Bay.
The road to the Arabatskaya Strelka through the strait passes through two bridges - a road bridge leading to the highway, and an old railway bridge, which is also used today to move vehicles.

The railway line from Genichesk to the village of Genicheskaya Gorka was built at the beginning of the last century for the needs of a salt enterprise operating on a unique pink lake and Sivash.

Salt from these reservoirs was exported not only locally, but also to foreign countries. For example, to Egypt or Japan.
Initially, a wooden crossing was built, along which one railway track was continued. But the branch was destroyed during the civil war.
Restoration work was carried out here only after the victory in the Second World War, when shell rock was massively mined at the Arabat Stralka for the needs of the country, which was reviving after the devastation of the war.
At this time, the railway line was not only rebuilt, but also expanded. At the same time, the passage was laid behind the old wooden structure. For this, a metal structure was delivered from Belarus, which today is considered a monument to the engineering heritage of Europe. The designer of the project of the genius bridge was the Austrian engineer Friedrich Rod, who owns such structures as the Vienna collapsible bridge, the Sydney Opera House, and the London skyscraper. It is noteworthy that this design was a trophy, created in the city of Orsha by German craftsmen.
The old wooden building, after the installation of a new one, was used by local fishermen until it collapsed in 1964.
After the cities were rebuilt, the sand pits of the Arabat Spit became unclaimed and it was decided to dismantle the railway track. Official operation of the bridge was discontinued, although the high-quality German construction remains in its original place to this day. Private transport runs along it.
At the same time, together with the closure of the railway crossing, a major road bridge was built with access to the highway leading to the building of the gas pipeline station.

Today you can see the old and new construction of the bridge not only with your own eyes, but also if you watch Genichesk's webcams online.
