Webcams Balaklava online - a suburb of Sevastopol
Balaklava, whose webcams can be viewed online on this site, is a cozy town located southeast of Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula. This place is known for its eventful history, amazing natural corners, unique monuments and attractions.
One of the most famous locations of Balaklava is the Underground Museum Complex Object 825 GTS.
Once there was a top-secret base of Soviet nuclear submarines. The place is hidden from prying eyes by the arches of Mount Tavros, as well as the Balaklava bay, which has a special geographical position that protects it from ill-wishers from the sea.
In the underground there was an arsenal of nuclear warheads, repair shops. The complex simultaneously accommodated up to 9 submarines. After the end of the Cold War, it was turned into a museum.
An even older object in Balaklava is the Cembalo fortress, which was built by the Genoese in the 14th century.
A powerful stone fortification towered on Mount Castron, and was designed to protect the land from the encroachments of the conquerors. The first fortification was captured and burned by Khan Janibek. Later, the Genoese regained power over these lands and the fortress was rebuilt. However, the Theodorites followed on to these lands, followed by the Ottoman Turks.
Today, on Mount Fortress, you can see only the ruins of its former greatness. Fragments of a dilapidated wall and several towers have survived to our time.
Much later, the Nazukin Embankment appeared on the city map. It was built at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries and today it is one of the favorite walking places for the townspeople and guests of the city.
Old houses have been preserved here, complemented by cozy cafes and restaurants, a wide, comfortable promenade. In this part of the resort there is the oldest cinema in Crimea, the dachas of Maretskaya and Sokolova, a former bank, old hotels, as well as monuments to Kuprin and Balaklava cat.
Some of these sights can be seen if Balaklava's webcams are watched online.
Another embankment of the resort is called Tavricheskaya. It stretches along the western part of the Balaklava Bay. It used to be part of Marble Street. But after 2007, she was separated. Today it has a large beach and a modern yacht club. The above-mentioned underground complex is also located here, as well as the hunting lodge of the princely family of the Yusupovs.
The mansion of one of the richest families in the entire Russian Empire was built according to the design of the author of the famous Livadia Palace, Nikolai Krasnov. Hunting and fishing equipment was kept in the basements of the house. The interior of the mansion itself has not survived to this day. Now the city administration is seriously thinking about restoring the monument.
The history of the formation of this city, and especially the events of the Crimean War, is carefully preserved in the Museum of the History of Balaklava. Here you can see many personal belongings of the soldiers of that time, as well as sign up for a walking tour, during which you can walk through important historical sites near the outskirts of the city.
One of these places is the Northern Fort, it was built at the beginning of the 19th century to control the central Sevastopol bay, was used during the battles of the Crimean War, and helped to repel the German invaders during the Great Patriotic War.
Separately, it should be said about the magnificent nature of Balaklava and its environs. Among the most visited natural locations near the resort is Cape Fiolent. It is of volcanic origin, and traces of the activity of ancient volcanoes can be observed here today. This place will delight travelers with stunning views and clear sea water. The beaches are not crowded here, so they will give you a real unity with nature. From here you can quickly get to the Georgievskaya rock, on the top of which a cross is installed. There is a legend according to which George the Victorious himself appeared in front of the shipwrecked sailors in the 8th century. The crew managed to survive. And on the rock-outlier, which is located right in the sea, an icon of the Saint was found.
There are also several monuments of temple architecture in Balaklava, one of them - the Church of the Twelve Apostles, was built on the site of a destroyed temple, which was erected by the Genoese in the middle of the XIV century.
It is believed that the original building was destroyed by the Turks. The church that is in the town today was built at the end of the 18th century. And after the end of the Crimean War, it was reconstructed. Unfortunately, the temple did not escape the sad fate of all religious sites during the reign of the Bolsheviks. But the building managed to survive and today it can be seen on the Balaklava land, as well as centuries ago.
For those who cannot yet travel to the southern coast of Crimea, Balaklava webcams will give a unique opportunity to expand their horizons without leaving their own home or office.
