It will not take long to get to Vladivostok from Artem, the distance between the cities is about 40 km.
Initially, Artyom was a village where miners lived. But now it is the fourth most populous city in Primorye.
The city got its name thanks to the workers of coal mines. In the 1920s, a rally was held, where the workers demanded to assign the status of a town to the village. Of course, Artyom acquired the city status only 14 years after this event, but the name of the chairman of the committee of mining workers Fyodor Andreevich Sergeev has been bearing since 1924. It sounds not entirely logical, because Fedor and Artem are different names. But the joke is that Fyodor Andreevich was called Comrade Artyom in his circles, which is why it happened.

Until the 1990s, Artyom was the main place for coal mining in the Far East, but then coal mines began to be massively closed. The last mine was closed in 2000.
Today, the city is engaged in the production of building materials, chemicals for household needs, and the assembly of cars. The farm is actively developing, there are factories - porcelain and tire repair. Many well-known musical instruments (pianos) of the Primorye brand are produced here.

There is plenty to do in Artyom during the winter. The climate is, of course, harsh. But in the ski center "Sinyaya Sopka" snowdrifts and blizzards are not a minus, but a plus.
