Online webcam is located on the street School house 8 in the village of Teriberka. Teriberki is located beyond the Arctic Circle, on the north-eastern coast of the Kola Peninsula. Winter here lasts from the beginning of November to the end of April, and the local summer will seem more like spring to residents of more southern regions — the average temperature in July is about +12 C°.
Seasonal settlement of fishermen in this place existed in the XVI century. And since the second half of the XIX century, the first permanent residents — colonists appeared in Teriberk, they were engaged in breeding animals and catching whales. In the last decades before the revolution, the settlement was actively developed: a church, a lighthouse and the first meteorological station on the Murmansk coast were built here, and fishing flourished. In the 20s, the first collective farm appeared in these parts, whose employees mastered the dairy industry and reindeer husbandry, and the village received the status of a district center.
The greatest development of Teriberka was in the post-war period. There were two fishing farms, dairy farms, poultry farms, ship repair and fish processing enterprises. The shipyards were loaded to capacity. During the 15 post-war years, a stadium, several clubs and community centers, two comprehensive schools and a boarding school were built in the village.
Oblivion began after Teriberka was transferred to the jurisdiction of Severomorsk in the 60s. Coastal fishing began to lose its appeal to the ocean. The fish processing plant was closed, as large-capacity vessels could not enter the river from the ocean. After him, many other enterprises were abolished.
Today, the village is home to less than 1 thousand people, it is divided into two parts: an abandoned old and a relatively new one, where life still glows — before it was a separate village of Lodeynoye. The main occupation of local residents is small-scale private fishing, and now also serving tourists, which, every year, becomes more and more.
Interest in the village and its attractions grew after it became the filming location for the 2014 film Leviathan by Andrey Zvyagintsev, which won the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2015, Teriberka was even included in the top 20 best places to travel according to National Geographic magazine.
Despite the lack of resort infrastructure, the village is considered one of the most interesting places for active recreation, mainly due to the unique natural phenomena, fascinating views and unusual monuments of the past. Today we review this amazing place, tell you what to see in Teriberka and how to get to it.
