It was founded in the 60s of the last century as a working settlement at enterprises engaged in the extraction of oil and natural gas, the deposits of which were discovered in these places. However, the first people lived here many millennia ago. The Nenets and Komi have long lived here, engaged in fishing, fur breeding, cattle breeding and reindeer breeding.

The facility is divided into two rooms. The first one presents exhibits that tell about the peculiarities of local nature and the most ancient pages of history. In the second hall of the Historical Museum, a story will be told about the construction and development of Usinsk, as the most important center of the oil industry, its current realities and industry. The most valuable exhibits of the collection are the bones of a mammoth and a tragonternium elephant. Separately, it is worth noting the excellent collection of paintings.
You can continue your acquaintance with the beautiful in the Vortas Museum and Exhibition Center. Its galleries feature works by masters from Usinsk and other localities of the Komi Republic, including a collection of illustrations by the outstanding artist and animator Vasily Ignatov. The collection includes works from the Soviet period to our time.
There are many monumental monuments in Usinsk.
One of them is dedicated to the First Builders of the city. The other is for the Defenders of the Fatherland, which is a high arch in which a multi-figured composition is placed - a soldier of the Great Patriotic and Afghan wars, as well as a fighter of the modern Russian army. Other monuments include a bust of geologist Sergei Dyusushi, who made an invaluable contribution to the industrial development of the North, a monument to the Book with the adjoining Ryabinov Square, a monument to the Neftyanik, a bust of General Margelov.
