The castle was built in the 12th century by king Canute first. The castle was sort of defensive structure on the part of the Baltic sea. For a long time the castle was guarded and the attack of the Danish invaders. In the big fire, which occurred in 1806, the castle was in ruins. Today the castle is protected by the law of Sweden. Despite the ruins, it is possible to visit and enjoy the originality. The government is trying to monitor the integrity of the castle.
