The panoramic webcam broadcasts a view of the marina in Funchal (Madeira) and adjacent locations.
Thanks to the real-time broadcast, everyone can see the picturesque green streets, luxury yachts and the beautiful coastline of this distant city.
Funchal, whose webcams can be viewed online on this site, is the main city of Madeira, which is popular among tourists for its variety of attractions.
They are not only in the city, but also in the surrounding area. Vereda de Areeiro is a route that is 7.4 km long (north trail) and 8.7 km (south trail). The duration of the trail is 3.5 hours. It connects the three highest peaks of the island: Pico Ruivo (1862 m), Pico das Torres (1851 m) and Pico do Areeiro (1817 m). This is a sensational hike with tunnels, several steep ascents and descents and a breathtaking view of the heart of the Central mountain range.
Making the ascent, not far we stumble upon the belvedere of Niño da Manta (Buzzard's Nest). From this platform, where the bird of prey is believed to have bred, you can see the valley of Fajan da Nogueira. Some Manx Sheepdogs, São Roque do Faial and much of the Central Mountain Range breed here. It is also the only known place in the world where Zino's petrel, an endangered European seabird, breeds. Many different birds live in these places, among which are species that are found only in the Madeira archipelago.
For those who love plants, this part is famous for the presence of various endemics that grow only in the highlands of the island. For example, you can enjoy the Madeiran violet, gray heather, rock orchids and Madeiran bud.
To get to Pico Ruivo, you need to go around Pico das Torres on a steep slope of steps carved into the rock, and then go down to one of the difficult parts of the route - the refuge in Pico Ruivo.
It is worth noting that the thought of reaching the highest point of Madeira Island is the driving force. Along the way, you can also discover various caves. They were dug out of volcanic tuff, where cattle and shepherds took shelter during bad weather.
Near the top of Pico Ruivo, you can find a walking path leading to the cave of Achada do Teixeira. On the way to it, the traveler will meet the basalt rock formation "Standing Man".
